HP SimplePass requires me to reconfirm my Windows password before I can get access to my laptop. I cannot remember this password. Where will I find this or reset it?

HP have recommended two ways to deal with this:
Perform a system recovery. If you didn't touch the Recovery partition or application, then you might have a way to use the last known password.
When I had to re-install Simplepass, all of the fingerprints previously entered cannot be re-entered in the current version. When I attempt to enter one of my fingerprints, I get a pop-up windows claiming that fingerprint is already in use. How can I erase ALL fingerprints so that I can start from scratch?

There is no information related to Simplepass and its database. Many users recommend removing the program through Control Panel, but in some cases, the data still exists. However, install Revo Uninstaller and use that to remove the software. After it does the Moderate scanning procedure, it should list all the remaining files as well. Delete those files and the software will be removed completely. Additionally, go to Device Manager and remove the Validity Sensor.
I have had SimplePass 2011 and used it successfully from the beginning, until this year it started populating site addresses I've never visited with unknown email addresses as the passwords, and not allowing me to update passwords while logging in to some sites.
I have given up on trying to continue with it, and have been allowing browsers to store passwords. That's a security risk when more than one user enters a site to which I have a password. (That user is a nuisance!)
I have downloaded SimplePass for Windows 7. It's sitting in the Download folder until I know whether I should uninstall the existing app myself? Or will running the download automatically uninstall the previous app?

Theoretically, there is no need to uninstall the application in order to re-install it since most apps will do that when you launch the main installer. However, to have a better functionality, I recommend backing up the contents and then re-install the application just to be sure you're using something fresh without bugs and errors.
Secondly, I would like to recommend another service that I have been using it for years. It's called LastPass and it's available for every platform you could think of.
To turn off the application entirely, simply open it and unlock it by entering any password you may have set up and then uncheck all the boxes. Additionally, go to Start > Run > msconfig > Startup and uncheck it from that location. The application shouldn't start any more on the next computer restart.

You need to identify your laptop model and use it on the HP Support website. Input the exact model (remove the battery to find the exact model) then select Windows 8 as operating system and you will have the possibility to download an updated HP SimplePass application you can use in Windows 8.
Yes, you can try installing the application on Windows 10, but there is no information about its behavior. It will work or it won't work. It's one or another. However, there is a big chance the app will work correctly, but before doing that, right click the file and use Troubleshoot compatibility. Let Windows customize the settings then run the installation package.
You will need to set Google Chrome as the computer's default browser. To do this, open Chrome and access its settings then go to Advanced Settings and click to make Chrome the default browser. Restart the computer and HP SimplePass will recognize Chrome as the default browser and it will use it accordingly.
I can't find the fingerprint access option. Can you provide some info?

Yes, the application works on Windows 8.1, but you will need versions compatible with it and a True API x64 package that needs to be installed in order to use it. Also, the software is not fully function, but it supports fingerprint log-in and other features already described.
To get additional information as well as installation instructions, access the HP Forums link where the discussion is on going.
Can the Chromium authors add HP SimplePass Website Logon Extension to the Chrome Web Store? Will the Windows 8.0 version work with Windows 8.1? If not, how can the problem be repaired?

The application isn't available for Google Chrome as they don't allow extensions that are not in the Web Store. This means you will have to either use Chromium, because the Simplepass works normally or simply use Internet Explorer. Secondly, there is an alternative called LastPass. I believe it is far more secure than HP SimplePass.

Yes, it's possible to add additional fingerprints to the application. The first thing to do is to enroll your first fingerprints from a few fingers, then after the configuration is finished. Go to the main interface of the software and click on Fingerprints (left menu). Click the button then click again on Add Fingerprint and follow the procedure. There is also a page set up for this procedure. You can visit it at the HP website.
